Found out today that the medical school I matched to overbooked their class. The substance of the email was this:
Dear Class of 2015,
Again, we extend our wholehearted congratulations on your acceptance. Our Associate Dean of Admissions and Director of Admissions have an urgent matter to convey to you regarding our current class size and the likelihood of deferrals.
250 of you matched to a school that only has 170 seats. We want as many people as possible to defer voluntarily, but if that doesn't work, we'll pick you randomly and you might be taking a year off. :)
Sincerely,
The adcom
I'm pretty angry, and feel betrayed.
